Dedicated
by joelbear ini have a question for the group.. i am wondering if anyone has ever had a dedication and baptism successfully anulled.. i clearly recall that i did not answer the 2 questions when asked with the baptismal group.
i have an enormously strong aversion to lying and i knew that i was a homosexual and therefore didn't feel like i could answer the questions truthfully even though i was a virgin.. if i was never dedicated in jehovah's eyes how can i be disfellowshipped in his eyes.
i never took the vow, so doesn't that basically just make my baptism meaningless.

DNR - any experiences?
by talesin inafter reading another thread, i got thinking.
there is something i would like to talk to a lawyer about, but for now, i am interested to know if anyone has any personal / work-related experiences with do not resuscitate orders (dnrs)?.
if you work in a hospital, how effective is one?

In the UK you have the request put into your medical notes. But here DNR only applies when a patient has arrested.
HL, that incident is terrible, I'm glad your sister and hubby helped her and she became well enough to go home. You'd think the staff would have allowed her some dignity. What they did was torture her.
As far as I'm aware, it's still illegal to withold (?sp) fluids/food/medication here too. To do so, the doctors have to go through the courts but its only usually done in 'extreme' cases such as PVS where it is considered that the patient will have little awareness of what's happening. (Personally, I'd question this) and there's 'little chance of recovery'.

I'm a Taurus and a 'fire horse'
In this century, Fire Horses have only occured in two years: 1906 and 1966, the next being 2026. The Chinese believe that anyone born during a year of the Fire Horse will possess greatly enhanced characteristics in both their positive and negative attitudes and traits; they are the extremes of the astrolgical signs.
Betcha can't guess what year I was born then?

IM from a dub who is disgusted at my presence on this board
by stillajwexelder ini have read your posts and am suprised, shocked and disgusted at the fact you still are an active witness who goes to the meetings 70% of the time and at the same time go to apostefests and curse and talk bad about the truth.
dont you know that the bible said people like you would quietly slip in the congregation and subvert the faith of some?
are you not afraid of god and jesus?

Are cellular (mobile) phones safe or not?
by greendawn in.
for a while now some scientists have been claiming that cellular phones emmit radiation that interferes with the brain and the immune system.
do you take such warnings seriously or do you think they are just alarmist and without any real basis.. http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/chris/2005/02/15/grave_cell_phone_dangers_revealed.htm

Good call stilla (no pun intended of course )
That said, I get real bad earache if I'm on my mobile for longer than about 3 mins. Not sure if I'm 'radiation sensitive' though - I even get toothache when I walk under electricity pylons!
There must be some truth in the warnings, we know that they interfere with electrical equipment so if the brain and nervous system is working on electrical signals, it's likely to interfere with these too. Putting that in the context of brain tumours, perhaps the close range sends the brain cells into overdrive which, as far as I know is what causes cancers.

I have real nails but they are chewed to bits. I don't like them long, they just don't feel comfortable.

Whyamihere survives surgery!
by HadEnuf into all it may consume...i mean concern...my poor little brookiepooh had to have surgery on her leg today to remove a blockage in one of her major arteries.
it was a very long surgery but she was able to hobble home this afternoon (well...austin gave her a ride home but she had to hobble into the house).
so she isn't feeling too chipper and thought it would be nice for you all to stop by and wish her well and a speedy recovery.

I've still got a lot to learn here yet. I agree its about helping each other with whatever. My particular problem is that I spent most of my life being told to shut up so I find the 'oldies' and other newbies helpful because I'm absolutely hopeless at conversation. If you guys didn't start threads I wouldn't know what to talk about!
At the same time I hope that I might help at least one person out there by sharing what I can. If I only benefited one of you it would be worth my time here, however long that may be.
Thanks to you all
